What is Device Return (Deferred Payment) Option?
Eligible with Hay Device Financing and a 2-year plan. You can lower your monthly payments by returning your device in good working condition at the end of a 2-year term. Or, you can keep it and pay back the Deferred Payment Amount.
Return eligibility
Smartphones must meet the following requirements to be eligible for return:
You own the smartphone (lost/stolen devices will not be accepted). The smartphone meets the good working condition criteria:- It powers on and navigates properly to the home screen
- Keyboard and/or touchscreen is responsive and functions properly
- Display and body of the smartphone are free of any visible chips, cracks, and missing parts
- Battery and battery cover are included
- For an Apple iPhone, the “Find My iPhone Activation Lock” function is turned off and no longer linked to your Apple ID (iCloud account)
- For an Android smartphone, “Activation Lock Protection” (also known as “Device Protection”) is turned off
5G is available with compatible devices. Starting in select areas of Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montréal and the Greater Toronto Area. Coverage is approximate; actual coverage may vary and may not include indoor coverage; see bell.ca/5G. The 5G network symbol appearing on a 5G device while in use means that 5G is available on the Bell network in the surrounding local area of the device. Speed, performance and whether a 5G device uses the available 5G depend on various factors including topography, environmental conditions, the current serving radio conditions at your location, and whether the device is actively downloading or uploading data and subject to Bell’s Internet traffic management practices (e.g., priority access to emergency personnel and critical infrastructure personnel). See bell.ca/ITMP. Outside 5G areas, 5G devices will continue to have access to our fastest 4G speeds available.
- Can I buy any smartphone on Hay Device Financing? Yes, subject to Hay's credit approval process, financing is available with all our smartphones. Visit a retail location for more information.
- Do I pay taxes at the time of purchase? No. Taxes on the financed device amount are payable with your monthly device payments.
- What happens once the Hay Device Financing payment period ends? After 24 months, your Financed Device Installment Agreement will be paid off; therefore, you will no longer have monthly payments for your smartphone. As of month 25, you will only be charged the cost of your monthly rate plan.
- What happens if I want to cancel my Hay Financed Device agreement before the 24 months are done?You will be required to pay your remaining device balance immediately plus applicable tax and any outstanding service charges that you have incurred. In addition, you may be subject to an early cancellation fee for your service agreement.
- Can I combine the Advanced Payment with Buyback option with Hay Financing? Yes.
- How does the Advanced Payment with Buyback Option work with Hay Financing?
- Step 1: Pick one of our eligible smartphones.
- Step 2: Activate on an eligible 2-year plan with Hay Financing.
- Step 3: Return your smartphone in good working condition at the end of your 2-year term, or keep it and pay back the Advanced Payment Amount you saved.
- Is Hay Financing available on all rate plan types? You will be able to pair your Financed smartphone with the majority of our Unlimited Data and Share plans. Some plans may be excluded.
- What happens if I end my rate plan early or I change my rate plan to a non-eligible rate plan? If you end your rate plan early or change your rate plan to a non-eligible rate plan, you will have to pay an early cancellation fee for ending your services and your remaining device payments from your Hay Device Finance agreement will become due immediately.
- Can I upgrade to a new smartphone using Hay Financing? Yes. After one month of your agreement, if you are eligible for a device upgrade, you can activate any new smartphone with Hay Device Financing.
- Can I activate a smartphone with Hay Device Financing even though another user on my account already has a phone on a subsidized plan? Yes. Any additional users to the account can activate a smartphone with Hay Device Financing on eligible 2 year rate plans.
- Am I able to pay my device in full with a one-time payment? Yes, at any time you may pay your device in full with a one-time payment, ending your device financing arrangement.
