Why Does Your Phone and Laptop Show Different Emails?
If you’ve ever deleted emails on your phone and then found them still there when you log in on your laptop, or you can’t find emails you know you sent, it can be frustrating and you might wonder how this happens.
You’re not imagining it or doing anything wrong. It is likely that the settings on your devices are not set to SYNC.
Consider this. Your email is received on our server, and each device you use to access email looks on our server. The most common reason your devices show different messages is that one or more devices are not set to sync with the server, and instead your device downloads emails to that device ONLY. This takes the messages OFF the server.
Instead, you want to keep the emails on the server ready for all devices to view and also to update what actions you have taken, (like deleting).
Once you get ALL your devices set to sync:
- you can read an email on your phone and it shows as read on your computer too;
- you can delete a message on one device and it’s gone everywhere;
- you can send an email and it will appear in your sent folder on your other devices.
If your devices’ settings are set to POP, they will not sync across devices, if they are set to IMAP, they will. Changing to IMAP and syncing all your computers and mobile devices is straightforward — but we can help.
If your emails are not syncing across all your devices and web browsers, give our support team a call. (519-236-4500) It’s a short process to modify the settings and they can walk you through it. Once set up, your email just works – everywhere, the same way.
